The start of my 2019 Christmas Diy's

Updated: Oct 18, 2019

How cute are these. Started off by spraying these awesome pinecones my boyfriend suprised me with a few months ago. Such a sweet gesture for him to spontaneously collect them knowing I would put them to good use. I did a very light coat in Serenity blue. I sprinkled a little glitter to cones also. The terra cotta pots I bought last Spring at Dollar🌳 They were a pretty hot item so I made sure to stock up. Finding them now is nearly impossible at Dt. I've learned to buy when I see. They measure 3.5 inches so they are fairly small. Instead of just painting the pots I did a method called white washing. So the version I like is adding water to acrylic paint then sponge brushing the entire pot in two coats. When dry I distressed with sandpaper. Some people prefer to paint and then use a rag to slightly rub off paint. Whatever your preference is. Once everything was dry I added some Dollar🌳moss to the pot. The pinecones fit pretty nice in pot so I only used a little hot glue on some of the pine petals that were resting on pot. To decorate the pot I added a Dollar🌳 snowflake diy sticker. They too were sprayed in Serenity blue. For a finishing touch I added a Walmart pearl adhesive to center of snowflake.Hot glue was used to attach the snowflake to pot. My final last step was a jute twine bow to place on front of rim. I love the simplicity of these and can't wait to add them to my Christmas mantle

This is no doubt my favorite. Cutest snowman and I got to build him. So what did I use. First I painted three mason jar lids with Rust-Oleum white primer. Got lucky having a smaller one in my stash for his head. Once they dried I used sandpaper to distress them. For his eyes and mouth I used a black sharpie. I really got creative with his nose. Dollar🌳 during Easter had twine carrots. I ended up buying a few packs which I never used. While digging in my craft drawer for ideas I found them in a bag and said "what if". So I cut the tip of the twine carrot and pretty much had myself an awesome nose. Creativity really kicked in with his hat. I've been making a lot of projects using Dollar🌳 woven placemats so I've been hoarding the scraps, you just never know when your going to need them. Cut out a hat shape and then added a paper flower from Micheals to the snowman's hat. His arms are from a Dollar🌳 grapevine wreath. I was being too lazy to hunt for some sticks outside. Maybe if I had a tree in my backyard. His little buttons came from a Dollar🌳 Fall floral pick. They are pretty much colored mini stryrofoam balls. So last step was attaching everything with hot glue to a Dollar 🌳 8x10 frame. The frame was originally black so I sprayed it in Serenity blue. Mr Snowman is actually on glass and I opted against a background so no cardboard backer on back of frame. It works fine for me because I will be resting it on a shelf. Hot glue was also used to keep glass from moving. If I would have fastened it the tabs would show through the glass. So to sum this project up I think I did a pretty good job building a snowman⛄
