A Dollar Tree calendar page turns into a rustic farmhouse pumpkin sign

So the new 2021 Dollar Tree calendar has been the new craze on the Diy groups. It's actually a cute calendar with a lot of Farmhouse style themes. I especially liked the Pumpkin Patch page. Perfect timing for Fall. I've done diy's on their calendars before and pretty much framed them. Decided to think outside box and incorporate it on a wood plank. When all said and done it looked like something I would have bought at Micheals or Hobby Lobby. I guess this project was meant to be. Opening my craft closet the plank wood sign was beaming at me. It was the perfect fit for the calendar page which measure 11x11. The Walmart plank sign measures 12x12. Instead of just plopping the calendar page right onto the wood plank I decided to give it more character. The plank was originally a distressed white. I decided a few colors including orange would really give this sign character. I did two types of distressing. First I wet distressed it. Taking a dry shop towel I played around with three colors(orange, black and white)all around the sign. Once slightly dry I used a damp shop towel and rubbed the colors in. Sandpaper was then used for the 2nd distressing. After the plank was where I wanted it the calendar page was then ready to be attached . I'll be honest I'm not a big mod podge fan and Elmer's glue would probably give you less of a headache. I was lucky this time around applying the mod podge to the calendar page without a lot of wrinkles. I wanted this farmhouse sign to be as realistic as possible. While the paper was still wet from the adhesive I used sandpaper to tear around the edges. The whole process was to make it look more worn. Quite pleased how it turned out. Can't wait to come up with ideas for the other calendar pages.
