A mini Patriotic clothespin wreath finds a home on a galvanized wood frame

Squeezed in more Patriotic Diy over the weekend. I'm on a roll!!! Really went outside the box on this one. After stumbling upon some Dollar Tree mini clothespins in my craft drawer it got me thinking. What if I create a smaller version of the popular Patriotic clothespin wreath and incorporate it on a frame. I was on a mission to find a round wreath form that I could attach the mini clothespins to. Right in front of my face was a ribbon roll. I thought for sure the round cardboard packaging would work. I tested it first by adding the clothespins, it worked perfectly. The only issue was the hole in center. Using white paper I covered the entire round cardboard. Now that I have my wreath form it was time to paint the clothespins. Nine were painted in red, nine were painted in white and seven were painted in blue. While the pins were drying I pulled out the frame I would be using in this project. I scored this wood frame at Big Lots on clearance a few months ago. I love the galvanized background that it features. I wasn't digging the wood finish on frame so decided to stain it in a darker finish. While the frame was drying I attached my mini clothespins to the round cardboard. Rotating the white and red. The blue ones were positioned on the left side of the wreath Once I got them all in the right position my next step was creating something decorative for the center of the wreath. I decided to layer two different size wood stars together. I painted them in red and blue. A third layer was created by adding a mini white star I cut from my Cricut. The layered star was attached to the center of the round cardboard with Elmer's glue. Using my Cricut I cut out tiny white stars and placed three of them on each blue pin. A coat of mod podge was used to protect the stars. Once the frame was dry I then attached my completed mini clothespin wreath to the galvanized background. I squirted Elmer's glue on the back of each pin and then rested it on the frame. I left it alone for a good hour so the glue could set. My last step was adding a bow to the top of the frame. I created my bow using a combination of Patriotic striped ribbon and rafia. Makes a nice shelf sitter. Also will work nice on a mantle or side table.

This is what I used to attach the clothespins. It was traced and then covered in white paper with Elmer's glue

I stained my frame in a darker finish. Scored this for $2 on clearance at Big Lots

I used these stars for the center of my wreath

My Cricut was used to create the mini stars on the the blue clothespins and the star on centerpiece

Using a combination of this ribbon and some rafia I created the accent bow which was glued on top of frame in center
