Me and my boyfriend took a visit to our State Park back in the beginning of March. Our mission collecting some nice thick branch sticks and vines. From there my bf constructed a "decoration only" birdhouse with reclaimed wood and the branch stick. So for pretty much a month it has been sitting on our work table unfinished. Finally my creativity juices started to flow. I'm absolutely in love how this turned out. The birdhouse was stained first in a chestnut finish from Varathane. Using a combination of white acrylic paint and a sea glass pickling wash(both from FolkArt) I played around with the colors with a paper towel till I got it where I wanted it. Pretty impressed how I created the hanging Spring sign. I used a chalkboard tag from Dollar Tree. Had to do some modifications to make it look like a rustic plank sign. Using my scissors I trimmed all the sides of the tag till I formed a rectangular shape. I liked that each side was cut sloppy to make the sign look more realistic.
I then stained it in the chestnut finish. It was topped off with sea glass pickling wash paint. Using my Cricut I cut the word "Spring" out in black vinyl adhesive. As a added accent I created a little flower using a combination of items from my craft drawer. My last step was adding a floral accent to the front of the birdhouse. Using a floral stem I got from Hobby Lobby I pulled the small white flowers off . Next they were hot glued to the vines we collected at my local park. Definitely my favorite Spring Diy. Big thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for making this happen. His skills in woodworking are amazing❤
Ps: Forgot all about the bird, lol!!! Got this cutie last year at Hobby Lobby.
