I gave these mini Dollar Tree wood bird houses a Patriotic makeover. You can find these little guys in the Crafter's Square section at Dollar Tree. They come in assorted styles. Painter's tape was a must for painting each color. It's also important to wait for each color to dry before you start your next color. For the red and blue shades I changed them up a bit by adding a small amount of black acrylic paint. It gives it more of a primitive patriotic look. For the white I used my favorite chalk paint, sheepskin from Folkart. Once the entire birdhouse was complete I cut out mini white stars on my Cricut. They were put around all the sides of the house that were painted in blue. Due to it's very small size it is perfect for displaying on a tier tray. If you do decide to use it outside for decorative purposes I recommend spraying it with a clear coat from Rust-Oleum.
