Easy patriotic diy using a majority of Dollar Tree items. I've had these Dollar Tree house shaped light decor items since last Fall. Finally I found a diy for them. To transform these guys scrapbook paper is pretty much your best bet. Since they are a light up device it's impossible to give them a paint makeover. I have a nice selection of Patriotic scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby. I bought a lot of it last year for the paper flower wreaths I was making for the 4th. Your first step is tracing all sides of the house and front side on the scrapbook paper. Elmer's glue was used to cover all the sides and front. Since you can't see back or bottom I left as is. Once the house was covered I started on the accents. I had these diy glittered star stickers I got from Dollar Tree at Christmas time. I painted each one in red and white .I played around with a assortment of acrylic paints to give the color more of a rustic look. The stars were hot glued to the houses. I then wrapped Dollar Tree jute twine two times around the house. My last step was creating small jute twine bows that were hot glued to the houses. Definitely the perfect accent for a patriotic themed vignette or tier tray.
