Hanging Ribbon Rag Wreath on a Rustic Frame

Miss holiday diy's. More ideas seem to emerge. Now it's back to home decor. Once the weather breaks I'll focus on some outdoor diy's too. Decided to give the rag wreath a shot. I used a few styles of ribbon that I got at Micheals over the years for this project. For my wreath form I used a flying ring which is similar to a frisbee toy from Dollar Tree. I gave it two coats of sheepskin chalk paint from Folkart so the green wouldn't show through. Since my ribbon was wide I first had to start off cutting them in half. From there I cut the ribbon into 6 inch strips. Creating a color pattern I tied each strip to the ring form till it was nice and filled. To give the wreath a added touch I added a metal "Welcome" word saying from Dollar Tree to it. I sprayed it in white linen from Rust-Oleum. Initially I was going to glue the metal word to wreath but was able to tuck the ends to the ribbon strips. When my wreath was completed I just felt it was missing something. So downstairs I went on a hunt to find something to incorporate it with. In my boyfriend's tool closet I found a custom reclaimed wood frame he made last year that I used temporarily for a project but then got shoved in the closet. Using wide burlap ribbon I wrapped it around the wreath and then tied it to the top of frame creating a bow. Really suprised at how well this turned out. Once I get the motivation to put Easter away I hope to use this piece on my Summer theme mantle
