Look what I did with the Dollar Tree House Shaped Picture Frame

Updated: May 6, 2021

Boy it's been a hot minute since my last post. Pretty busy juggling both my day job and my Etsy shop. It was definitely time to squeeze in a Diy to share with others. I took a trip to Dollar Tree today and scored these cute picture frames that were in the shape of a house. Snagged four of them because the ideas were pouring. This turned out being a nice decor piece that would work perfectly in your living room or showcased on a mantle or shelf. So to begin this project I removed the glass from the picture frame. I then traced the house shape to a piece of scrapbook paper. The paper will serve as the background. I then glued the paper to the cardboard backing of the frame. I wanted this piece to be very farmhouse'ish so I added a vine garland I got from Hobby Lobby. Keep the garland exactly how it was packaged since it's round like a wreath. Next, I hot glued the garland wreath to the scrapbook paper. I wanted to doll the wreath up so I used some ribbon from my collection and created a bow. The bow was then hot glued to top of wreath. My last step which was the most time consuming of this project was creating a mini rustic sign to attach to the house. To pull off this little wood sign I used a chalk board tag from Dollar Tree. Using scissors I trimed all four sides of the tag to give it a wood plank look. I then stained it in a Provincial finish from Minwax. Once it was completely dry I added vinyl adhesive letters that I cut from my Cricut Machine. After applying the letters to the wood sign I sealed it with mod podge. The final step was attaching my wood sign to the scrapbook paper. I used Elmer's glue but hot glue will work fine too.The ideas are limitless on this diy. Make it your own by using a different style scrapbook paper, another type of bow or even choosing a different word saying. Thanks for visiting and Happy Crafting😀
