Came up with this sweet idea for a outdoor accent. I picked up four wood planks from Dollar Tree's craft section. My first idea was turning them into a wood sign but then remembered a item I saw on Kirkland's website that gave me a better idea. The item was a plank style lantern. To support all the planks I needed a base. Digging through my craft drawer I found a mini Dollar Tree shadow box that was a perfect fit. To begin the project I stained all the planks in a Red Mahogany by Miniwax. To give the planks more of a worn washed look I wet distressed them in two paints by FolkArt. The two colors I chose were White Cottage and Succulent. Using a damp shop towel I rubbed the colors into the stained planks. Once they were completely dry the next step was gluing all the planks to the mini shadow bow. Elmer's glue was used to attach them all together to the base. I gave it a good hour or two for glue to set. After the glue was dry I plopped a cute glass candle holder from Dollar Tree inside the plank box. A solar light would work real well too. I can also see this plank box holding a plant or flower.
