Patriotic stacking block decor

Updated: Jul 12, 2020

I'm officially on a Patriotic Diy frenzy. I can't stop! The inspiration for this project was from a picture I saw on Pinterest. All the supplies I needed to create this Diy I pretty much had at home. I could have had my bf cut me blocks but I decided to challenge myself by using the Dollar Tree towering blocks which are pretty much like jenga blocks. You can find them in the toy section at Dollar🌳. It took a while figuring out how I actually wanted to do them and how many blocks I would need to create a cube shape .After playing around with them I finally put together a block that consisted of 10 of the Dt towering blocks. I created two sets of five blocks which were then glued together to form the block. Elmer's glue was used to attach everything. I repeated the step two more times. 30 blocks in all were used to complete the whole project. Once the glue was dry I painted each block. Didn't want the traditional red, white and blue color shades so I played around with a bunch of acrylic paints till I gave them a more primitive look. Once the paint was completely dry I used sandpaper to distress each one. After that was completed I topped each one off with small bows I made with Dollar🌳 jute twine. Elmer's glue was used to attach each bow to center of wood block. My last step was stacking the three blocks together. Elmer's glue again was used to keep them intact. This is little guy and only measures 5 1/2" in height. Definitely the perfect size for displaying on a tier tray . I'll have to admit Im really loving this one. So pleased how it turned out.
