Shamrock Decor

On to St Patty's projects. I'm really loving this idea I came up with. Monday's are my day off so I dedicate that day to Dollar Tree. Since my Valentine Diy's are pretty much wrapped up I was ready to get to Dollar Tree and come up with ideas for St Patty's Day . The idea for this project came about when I was browsing through the remainder of their Christmas clearance. As soon as I saw the mini green Christmas bells I knew exactly what I was going to do. Originally I was thinking of covering a whole shamrock wood form with green bells but I wasn't sure if I had enough. I pretty much grabbed all the bells that were left. The shamrock wood form I used for the project was also at Dollar Tree. So when I sat down to do the project I decided adding the bells around the outer edges would be a unique idea instead of filling the whole thing. So before the bells were added I stained the unfinished wood form in two colors. To lighten it up I wet distressed it with Waverly white chalk paint. Basically just blotted some white around the stained shamrock and used a wet paper towel to rub the paint in. Elmer's glue was used to adhere each mini bell. A very light dab on each bell so the glue doesn't run onto the wood. When all the bells were attached I glued the shamrock to a already ready wood plank I purchased at Walmart. Such a nifty idea. Perfect to hang on door or display on a mantle.
