Super easy Patriotic Diy using Dollar🌳 items

Happy Memorial Day. Thought it appropriate to create a diy today with Patriotism as the theme. So let's get started. This is a fairly simple Diy. If you checked out my previous post the main item I used in that project was the house shaped picture frame that I scored at Dollar Tree. For this Diy I'm using that same frame. My first step was finding the perfect Patriotic themed scrapbook paper to use as a background for my frame. After picking the right paper I set it to the side to start my next step. I wanted the frame to have a white distressed look. In order to pull this off I lightly sanded the frame so the paint would adhere better. We all know Dollar Tree items are not the best quality and this frame is surely not wood. It's important to sand all the sides or your paint will basically slide off. I gave it a few minutes to dry and then for a second time I used the sandpaper to give it a distressed and worn look. Next I inserted the cut scrapbook paper to the frame. I'll be honest I was pretty clueless on what I wanted to do next to create this project. Luckily I stumbled onto some large wood star cut outs that I bought online last year from Micheals. I decided the star would look nice centered on the frame. I first gave it a coat of white acrylic paint. Once it was dry I squirted some Elmer's glue to the back of it and affixed it to the front of the glass. Elmer's takes a while to set so I left it alone for about a hour. My last step was adding a red gingham bow to the star. Surely gave it a little more character. So there you have it a super simple and quick Diy. Perfect accent to display on a mantle, shelf or kitchen counter for all the Patriotic holidays.
