Finally made it to Dollar Tree. I haven't been there since beginning of March. It felt good for sure. Our state has eased restrictions and now non-essential retail is open for business. Since I only buy items at Dollar Tree for Diy's I didn't feel comfortable shopping there since it wasn't essential. I definitely was running low of supplies. So I've been on this Patriotic windmill kick and decided to grab the Welcome Windmill sign from Dt's garden section. The Diy groups are probably getting sick of my Patriotic windmill diys but this one is a little different because it's for outdoor use. To start off this project I started off painting two of the blades in a combination of blue and black acrylic paints. My plan is spraying the remaining four blades and the hanging "Welcome".
I would have loved spraying everything but I wasn't digging the two blue color shades in my spray paint collection. Once the blue blades were dry the next step was painting the remaining blades in red and white. It was very important to do one color at a time. You also need to cover all the blades in painter's tape when spraying each color. I started off with red. Once the red blades were completely dry then all the blades are covered again in tape to spray the white blades. Once all the blades are dry I completely covered them and sprayed the hanging "Welcome" Using my Cricut I cut out small white stars and attached them to the two blue blades. The final step was spraying Rust-Oleum's matte clear coat to protect it from outside. I absolutely love this makeover. It's definitely a sweet accent to hang on my flower box.
